After internships at several hospitals, including Cambridge Hospital of Harvard University in Massachusetts, Dr. Kinmon chose a top level, high volume foot and ankle surgical residency program at Palmetto General Hospital here in South Florida. There he trained extensively in all areas of foot, ankle and lower leg surgery including elective and traumatic forefoot, hind-foot and ankle reconstruction as well as infection management, Diabetic foot reconstruction and limb salvage under renowned Podiatric Surgeons and educators as well as many Orthopedic Surgeons. Dr. Kinmon trained in Pediatric foot and ankle surgery as a participant in the Yucatan Crippled Children’s Project. He also completed outside specialized training in foot and ankle arthroscopy, deformity correction with external fixation techniques, and Total Ankle Replacement.
Having developed a special interest in peripheral neuropathy and peripheral nerve surgery, Dr. Kinmon was accepted to spend time with A. Lee Dellon, MD, a world-renowned peripheral nerve surgeon and professor of Neurological and Plastic Surgery at John’s Hopkins University in Baltimore in the fall of 2002. There Dr. Kinmon was instructed on Dr. Dellon’s ground- breaking techniques in the diagnosis and treatment of peripheral nerve problems, including diabetic and chemo therapy induced peripheral neuropathy as well as Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD) or Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). Since then, Dr. Kinmon has performed hundreds of successful nerve decompression procedures in the treatment of these painful conditions. The excellent outcomes of his results have been presented at national conferences and recognized with an award from the Association of Extremity Nerve Surgeons.
Dr. Kinmon has also continued his pursuit of knowledge in the area of total ankle replacement and thus has become a regional leader in this super sub-specialized area. In fact, in January of 2009, Dr. Kinmon implanted the first Inbone 4th generation total ankle replacement in South Florida. In 2013, he performed the first Prophecy CT guided Inbone total ankle replacement and has implanted more of these devices than any surgeon in the region. Further, Dr. Kinmon was recently selected as the region’s most experienced ankle replacement surgeon to train on the new Prophecy Infinity ankle replacement procedure. He is currently the only surgeon in the area trained on this cutting edge design.
Dr. Kinmon is Board Certified not only in Foot Surgery, but also was the first surgeon in Palm Beach County to be Board Certified in Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He then sat on the committee which wrote the questions for the oral board certification exam in reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery, and was an oral examiner for board certification exams in foot and ankle surgery. Since the completion of his fellowship training in 2003, Dr. Kinmon has practiced in Palm Beach County. He is a member in good standing with the American, Florida and Palm Beach County Podiatric Medical Associations.

He has authored several additional publications as well, including an article on Pediatric Flat Foot for New Balance shoe company’s health line and has more research underway.
As the Founder and President of Embrace Orthopedic, LLC, Dr. Kinmon is involved in the design and development of surgically implantable devices for foot and ankle and orthopedic surgery. Dr. Kinmon is the Founding Director of Residency Training for Bethesda Memorial Hospital’s three year Podiatric Surgical Residency Program. He further supports education by instructing residents in surgery at three area residency training programs. He holds adjunct clinical faculty positions at multiple universities and his offices host medical student externs from across the country.
As the founding member of Certified Foot and Ankle Specialists, PL, Dr. Kinmon sees patients in their Boca Raton/ Delray Beach Office and West Boynton Beach Office. He is also a member of Orthopedic Surgery Associates, Inc, seeing patients in their Boynton Beach office, and is on staff at multiple area hospitals and surgical centers. He and his partners emphasize the importance of spending time with their patients and educating the patients on their conditions, realizing that a patient’s understanding of the problem is necessary for effective treatment.
While Dr. Kinmon is highly trained in all aspects of foot and ankle surgery, he uses surgery as a last resort, always first exhausting every effort to correct the problem with conservative treatment. In the vast majority of cases, surgery is NOT required, and the condition resolves with conservative treatment alone.
