More Testimonials:
Recently had 2 phenomenal experiences with both Kinmon and Norris.  Kyle operated on the right foot, Shawn on the left.  Each surgeon performed metatarsal toe fusions navigating and architecting their way to allowing me a “quality of life” that I never knew existed. Less than 1 year later, 2 operations, I am running . . .   Pain FREE ! ! !
Pleasantly impressed with their credentials, sense of humor, compassion, enthusiasm and transparency that few Doctors possess.

Thank You

Thank so much for your excellent work – I feel I am on the road to recovery.

But that’s not the reason I am writing you. As you can imagine, I go to lots of doctor’s offices, interface d I see a wide disparity in the quality of the support staff. From my perspective, yours are the best. Everyone is so friendly, nice, kind, gentle, understanding, cooperative, efficient and professional. Most importantly your staff appears immune to the Boca customer service virus that turns even the most accommodating into short tempered Doberman.

I actually look forward to going to your office. 😀

I thought you might want to know

Warmest regards

Brian

Bill M

“Six weeks after the operation, when I was walking without assistance for the first time, I was astounded that the pain I had been dealing with for a decade was minimal.”

West Palm Beach resident Bill, 48 years old, works hard and plays hard. An engineer who has been employed by a cable television operator for more than twenty-five years, Bill began his career as a lineman and for many years, spent his days installing and repairing cable lines in the field. When not working, he is very active with his children and it was the combination of an active professional and personal life that ultimately led him to having both ankles replaced

In his youth, Bill was an adventurous sort and it was not uncommon for him to jump off roofs and onto a pile of mattresses. As an adult, his job required him to be constantly climbing and jumping out of a bucket truck. These activities resulted in dozens, perhaps hundreds, of ankle sprains but Bill was a “wrap it up and get back to work” type of guy. However over the years, the constant wear and tear began to take its toll.

Around the turn of the century, Bill began experiencing more frequent discomfort in his right ankle and periodic discomfort in his left ankle. He didn’t know it at the time, but the cartilage between his ankle bones was beginning to disappear.

By 2005, Bill was in constant pain, primarily due to his right ankle, and miserable. Although he persevered at work and was determined to live life as best he could, Bill began to abandon many of his favorite activities, including exercise, and gained a lot of weight. A few years later, when his primary care physician suggested he see a foot and ankle specialist, he scheduled an appointment with Dr. Kyle Kinmon at Orthopaedic Surgery Associates in nearby Boynton Beach. An MRI confirmed the worst: the cartilage in each ankle was gone and both joints would need to be replaced.

Bill previously learned about total ankle replacement through regular online research, however at that time, he had reservations about the reliability of the technology and instead elected to wear customized braces and receive monthly shots to lubricate the joints. That solution enabled him to function for a few more years but by 2010, Bill reached his breaking point.

Dr. Kinmon suggested the INBONE® Total Ankle System from Wright Medical. After conducting some additional research, Bill took the plunge and had his right ankle replaced. He spent two weeks in a cast and another four weeks in a walking boot.

The INBONE® Total Ankle System is intended to be used to treat patients with ankle joints damaged by severe arthritis or a failed previous ankle surgery. The INBONE® Total Ankle System is intended to give patients limited mobility by reducing pain and restoring movement in the ankle.

Not everyone is a good candidate for the INBONE® Total Ankle System. Talk to your doctor to discuss your lifestyle and health to find out if surgery with the INBONE® Total Ankle System is a good option for you.

“Six weeks after the operation, when I was walking without assistance for the first time, I was astounded that the pain I had been dealing with for a decade was minimal,” said Bill. “I began to ramp up my activity level and just six months after receiving the INBONE®, my right ankle felt 100 percent.”

Many factors contribute to the length of hospital stay and rehabilitation. These factors include, but are not limited to, your age and health at the time of surgery as well as your surgeon’s determination of the appropriate hospital stay and rehabilitation. Additionally, there are risks associated with ankle replacement surgery such as pain and bruising, damage to blood vessels or nerves, infection, or blood clots that can travel to your heart or lungs. If you experience these complications, your hospital stay may be extended.he second surgery, Bill felt fully recovered.

In 2013, Bill’s left ankle, which was historically less balky than his right, had finally deteriorated to the point that action was warranted. Undaunted, Bill scheduled another ankle replacement procedure with Dr. Kinmon. As was the case with his right ankle, approximately six months after the second surgery, Bill felt fully recovered.

Today, Bill enjoys a pain-free lifestyle and is free to engage in many of the activities he desires. “I knew I made the right decision to have my ankle right ankle replaced just a few weeks after the surgery,” he said. “With the left ankle, I was completely confident going in that I would have a positive outcome. All in all, my two new ankles have allowed me to enjoy life. I could not be happier.”

Billie W

“When they took me out of the boot, I was incredibly pleased that I could walk without any discomfort for the first time in a dozen years.”

In the mid-1970’s Boynton Beach, Florida resident Billie suffered an accident while skiing and experienced an “explosion fracture” in her right ankle. Surgeons reconstructed her shattered joint and although she spent the next nine months in a cast, when it was removed Billie was able to move around pain-free.

For the next twenty-five years, Billie lived her life without incident. She worked full-time and enjoyed an active lifestyle that included bike rides, scuba diving, hiking and even a return to the slopes. Shortly after the turn of the century, however, she began to experience periodic swelling, stiffness and discomfort in the previously injured ankle. At first the episodes were minor and manageable, however as the years went on, they became more frequent and more severe.

In 2009, Billie’s ankle had deteriorated to the point that she was having issues with mobility and was having difficulty putting shoes on. To that point, her ankle had never been examined by an orthopedic surgeon but in a fortuitous stroke of luck, she met a woman who had recently undergone a total ankle replacement. Based on that woman’s referral, Billie scheduled a visit with Dr. Kyle Kinmon at Orthopaedic Surgery Associates in Boynton Beach.

X-rays confirmed what both Billie and Dr. Kinmon suspected: advanced arthritis that left her ankle joint bone-on-bone. A total ankle replacement was discussed early on, but Billie was not yet ready for major surgery so over the next few years, a regimen of pain medication and periodic shots to lubricate her ankle was implemented but any relief Billie experienced was temporary.

An avid traveler, Billie’s condition was beginning to impact her quality-of-life. Walking on cobblestone streets in Europe was painful; in one instance, lifting her suitcase was impossible.  By 2012, the arthritis had progressed to the point that Billie began using a cane to take some weight off the balky ankle. When she had to drop out of a long-awaited Asian vacation, Billie reached her tipping point.

On Dec. 12, 2012, Dr. Kinmon implanted the INBONE® Total Ankle System from Wright Medical into Billie’s right foot. Following the surgery, she was in a cast for 6 weeks and in a walking boot for an additional 3 or 4 weeks. By the end of February 2012, Billie was walking without assistance and with virtually no pain.

“When they took me out of the boot, I was incredibly pleased that I could walk without any discomfort for the first time in a dozen years,” said Billie. “After I finished physical therapy, I hired a personal trainer to help rebuild the muscle tone I had lost in the preceding years and I’ve been with her ever since!”

If you experience these complications, your hospital stay may be extended.

With her ankle no longer a concern, Billie resumed her travels and has visited Europe, Asia and the Caribbean. She walks frequently and is planning to purchase a new bicycle soon. “The best thing about the INBONE®  Total Ankle System is that my right ankle feels just like my left,” Billie said. “I have nothing but positive things to say about it.”

Stem Cell Testimonial

Dr. Kyle Kinmon,

I would like to thank Dr. Kinmon and his staff for the extreme care and compassion in my recovery of my Achilles Tendon tear. As a tennis pro whom is required to use my feet in my profession as the tools to my trade, I am relieved that no surgery was needed and my recovery developed in a short length of time. I would also like to complement his staff for a friendly atmosphere that certainly made me feel relaxed and well cared for. The new AmnioFix Stem Cell shot I received is certainly a miracle and obtained great results in just a few days. Dr. Kinmon’s office has cutting edge technology and the diagnosis and treatment plan was spot on. I would recommend anyone with foot and ankle problems to see Dr. Kinmon.
