Dr. Herrera’s medical journey began in Cuba, where he earned his Medical Doctor (MD) degree from the prestigious University of Havana. He further honed his skills by completing a comprehensive residency in Orthopedic and Trauma Surgery, practicing as an orthopedic surgeon internationally for several years. His commitment to global health led him to serve as the Chief of International Medical Relief in Nicaragua, where he spearheaded trauma and reconstructive surgical efforts in high-pressure environments.

Upon transitioning to the United States, Dr. Herrera expanded his specialization by earning his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree from Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine in Miami. He then completed a rigorous PM&S-36 surgical residency at Mercy Hospital, where he received intensive training in forefoot and rear-foot reconstruction. This dual background in traditional orthopedics and specialized podiatry allows him to address complex lower extremity pathologies with a depth of knowledge rarely found in the field.
