Dr. Dean L Sorrento
Dr. Sorrento has attended advanced courses in ankle arthroscopy, the most up-to-date ankle replacement systems and advanced nerve decompression surgery. He also has extensive experience with the Lapiplasty procedure, a 3-dimensional bunion corrective operation. He continues to stay up to date on the latest techniques in foot and ankle medicine and surgery.
Dr. Sorrento was born and raised in Central New Jersey. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, majoring in Biology and earning a minor in Philosophy. He played football in high school and suffered foot injuries which sparked his interest in foot and ankle medicine. Dr. Sorrento continued his studies in Philadelphia attending the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine and graduating in the top 5 percent of his class.
He then continued his training at the prestigious University of Pennsylvania/Presbyterian Medical Center Foot and Ankle Surgical Program. At the time this was the only 4-year long program in the country. He received training in all aspects of adult and pediatric reconstructive and traumatological foot and ankle surgery by renowned podiatric surgeons in the field.
As a resident, Dr. Sorrento was involved with research and peer-reviewed journal publications. He lectured at various conferences with the prestigious Podiatry Institute. He also co-authored a chapter in a leading foot and ankle surgery Textbook.
Dr. Sorrento maintained a teaching background, becoming a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at Penn State College of Medicine, Hershey, PA. For the past 21 years, he has also been part of the teaching faculty of the St. Luke’s University Foot and Ankle Surgical Residency in Allentown PA. Dr. Sorrento attained diplomate status from the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He is certified in both Foot and Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.
While trained in advanced surgical procedures, it is Dr. Sorrento’s goal to thoroughly educate the patient on their condition and always try to exhaust non-surgical options to alleviate their symptoms prior to surgery.
