Dr. Derek Pawich grew up in North Port and is excited about returning to southwest Florida to practice. He earned a Bachelors of Health Science from the University of Florida in Gainesville and then attended the Creighton University Heider College of Business in Omaha, NE, where he earned a Masters in Bioscience Management and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA). Following graduate school, he attended the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. After earning his doctorate degree in 2016, Dr. Pawich remained in Philadelphia to complete a three-year foot and ankle surgical residency at Roxborough Memorial Hospital.
He benefited from being in a surgically-focused program with an emphasis on forefoot and rearfoot surgery in addition to wound care and limb salvage. Due to his residency being associated with five hospitals within the Philadelphia metropolitan area, Dr. Pawich had the opportunity to work with a vast group of foot and ankle surgeons on a wide variety of surgical procedures. In addition, his residency included weekly academic meetings that promoted and accelerated learning on the latest advancements in surgical and medical practices.
As a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) and the Florida Podiatric Medical Association (FPMA), he stays current with the latest research and trends. When not providing patient care, Dr. Pawich enjoys spending time with his family, including his girlfriend Jordan and her crazy puppy Watson. He also enjoys outdoor activities such as wakeboarding, kayaking, paddleboarding in addition to running and watching Gator football.
